2325 Wooden Case

Whats the consensus on the wooden case for the 2325? Does leaving it off make a difference in keeping the components cool and therefore allow the unit to last longer? I'm debating whether I should spend the time to refinish the case, or box it up for storage. I do like the look with it off.

It will run cooler without the box but how much that affects the longevity of the unit is open to testing. It will help but is it the difference between needing recapping every 30 vs every 15 years, I got no idea.

If they built it with a wooden case they must have known a thing or two:)
So you are saying the 2325 was sold with the case and it wasn't an option?

If that is the case, I wonder what they were thinking when they put the wood pattern on the metal case.

Also, the units were not perfect. For starters the entire lamp housing has melted and this has been reported on almost all 2325s out there.

thanks.

No I not saying that it wasn't an option!
I had a 2385 with the wood case and it was an option but it also had the wood pattern on the metal case!
Nobody made all perfect models:)

the OEM fuse lamps are 200MA if they were replaced 250MA or higher it adds a lot of heat and can melt the housing. LED bulbs can eliminate a bit of heat from these units. As for the case i leave mine on and think it looks COOL with it. i also leave the metal cover on in the wood case as it helps block RF waves from cell phones and such can affect sound.

Is the one in the photo yours? It's making me drool with that nice looking wooden case. Mine is the original and has seen better days on top of that. It looks to be particle board with a very thin veneer.

Mine came with the metal case, but I wanted a wood case. A woodworker who wanted to make more of them made mine as a prototype. Everything fit with the metal case off, but not on. So, I have a good reason for removing my metal case when using a wood case. With my feedback, he adjusted the interior dimensions slightly where subsequent cases worked with or without metal case. At any rate, I love the look of my wood framed 2325.

Very nice. You guys are getting me to rethink the wooden case.

You need not keep the metal top on when inside of the wood cabinet.

Box it up or not and use a computer cooler fan wired to a wall wort plugged into the switched outlet on back of the 2325 for more air.

Hah! Joe is who made my case. Mine was his first WC-43, and he had to make minor adjustments when mine wouldn’t fit in the case with the metal cover on. It made no difference to me because the case was so beautiful:D

Well thanks to you then mine fits like a glove . Ooops forgot about that damn covid try this :beerchug:

I could have used a couple of those cold ones last week. We had three days in a row of 108 degrees with high humidity. Finally, we got a rare late August - Early September rain break and cooled off for a few days. I enjoyed it so much - I think I'll drink to that. :beerchug:
