2330 Power Switch Replacement

I thought this would be easy but I'm having trouble removing the power switch from a 2230. I have the front of the receiver unscrewed but I can't get enough clearance to remove the power switch. Other Marantz switches aren't this difficult IIRC. And in the process I took the tuning wheel off which is going to be a bear to restring. Is there an easier way?

Hi,

is it on a 2330 as in headline, or a 2230 as in text?

I once replaced the power switch on a 2245 and a 2270, which should be pretty similar to your 2230.
Think I did it from the top, but not sure. And yes, there is not much space.
If you pull off the aluminum knob first, you will have a little more space to remove the switch. That is what I did without problems.

I think the 2330 power switch never fail, do they?

It's on a Marantz 2230 receiver. I finally wriggled it out, and this one failed at least. The WD40 trick didn't work either.

BTW, the cap is glued on to the shaft. It wasn't meant to be removed.

I bought the switch that AK member Dgwojo sells for $5 and it fit a 2270 real good. For the cap, I carefully snipped off the old shaft behind the cap with a side cutting pliers, drilled out the old shaft from the old cap with a small drill bit, then used a larger bit, then a larger bit until I was able to pick it out clean and re-glued it on to the new switch. It fit real good. Just don't drill too deep or off centered.

Dgwojo sells Marantz switches? I've bought bulbs from Dave several times but I didn't know he sells Marantz switches. Much obliged BeerLegs, I will PM Dgwojo.:thmbsp:
