$250 ADS conundrum...

I currently have a pair of ADS L-780/2s and would like to expand my ADS ownership. Looking around my area I have come across 3 deals all of which have the same asking price of $250. which of these (if any) would be the best $250 spent? (They are all in very good physical condition and work perfectly.)

1. ADS L-690 (walnut finish)
2. ADS 710 (well seller says 70s version 710s, but they have the later style "ADS" box logo instead of the earlier "aDs" logo so I am wondering if they are actually L-710s, walnut finish)
3. a/d/s PA-8 8 channel amplifier (35 watts/ 8 channels or 70 watts/ any 2 channels bridged)

Any opinions are welcome, thanks

Don't know about the amp, I'd go for the 710's over the 690's. Not a bad price specially if in good/great condition.

Thanks for the input! I don't really know much about the PA-8 either, I could have a use for it though. The 710s appear to be in great condition. Seller also has the original stands but they would be another $150, can't quite afford that. :(

The PA8 is the matching amp for the a/d/s/ dominet 2 multi-room product. Designed to be used with the SC4 preamp/controller but makes a decent stand-alone amp as well. My recollection is 8x50, not 35, but I'd have to confirm (I have the documentation somewhere). Has 12V triggers so you can turn it on remotely. Only caveat is that it uses a switching power supply and those have been known to go bang. I wouldn't run one hard into low impedance, personally.

It's probably the best value of those three @ $250 but if you decide you don't have any need for an amp like that, go for the L710.

Thanks very much for that advice! I do wonder if the amp is swaying my interest simply because it is sort of rare, at least in my area. If you could double check on the specs for it I would certainly appreciate it- if it is indeed 50 watts/ channel instead of 35 it might just put it at the top of the list for me.

Go For the 710s. Some if the best ADS speakers out there. I am currently running L710, 910, and L1290/2. Do the 710s you're looking at have cloth or metal grills?

Hmmmm, tough call. Not sure there will be a big enough difference between your 780/ii and the 710 or 690. The 690 is an excellent 2-way that many rave about and may be different enough to go along with the 780's. If you had none of the above I would say 710's. The 780/ii have some nice drivers in them. I would consider getting a quality subwoofer to mate with the 780's. When running my 710's I add in a nice subwoofer and that combo give my 1590's a run for their money.

Confirmed the PA-8 is 50 watt channels, not 35-40. I found a draft of the specs page of the owner's manual in some archived files, if anyone needs a copy.
