My 250m is coming today. 3300 arrived yesterday. One peculiar thing, the 250m has no gain controls. In the future, I was considering adding a second power amp to the system. Power amps with gain controls may be useful. Has anyone ever tried to add some external circuitry to the 250m for gain control? (No, I'm not suggesting boring holes in the face plate and permanently altering it :stupid: )

The added gain controls could alter the impedance. A good preamp should be enough. You should also try a 3600 or 3800 preamp. Very LUSH combo!

I think the seller overstated its cosmetic condition somewhat. The faceplate has some more dings and staining that were not disclosed, and one of the meter bulbs is out. I was planing on LEDing them anyway. I'll have to live with the dings. Can I do the LED conversion myself? How do I get some?

If I get another power amp to feed more speakers, I'll just have to get one with gain controls already in.

Right now, I have garage sale speakers, don't have the big guns yet. I was running a so-so Kenwood receiver, and it sounded sort of okay. But upon turning on my new 3300/250m rig, even on low volume that these speakers could handle, I was immediately impressed by the full bodied lushness I had been missing all these years.
