2M Bronze or Shure + jico for SME 3009?

Hey fellow vinyl geeks!

I am in the process of finishing my custom build based on a Lenco L75 turntable with a SME 3009 SII Improved arm. I currently have a Rega Exact and an Ortofon 2M Bronze that I plan on trying on the turntable.

However, I think the Ortofon 2M Bronze might need a new stylus soon, am I am considering trying something else instead. I have been reading quite a lot of great comments about Shure Cartridges with Jico SAS styluses, and Im really tempted to try this combo. Any comments about replacing my Ortofon 2M Bronze with one of these? And which exact Shure should I go for? The V15 can be bought pretty cheap, but I'm a little concerned about buying a cartridge that old..

All comments are greatly appreciated.

I bought the combo below and it's a nice fit for my SME 3009 S2 arm.

SHURE V15 TYPE III CARTRIDGE and JICO VN35E STYLUS
 
The Ortofon will cost you some 440$ and an additional 350$ for each new stylus. The V15 (with no stylus) goes for about 100$ and a new Jico SAS is another 200$

Both are very good, and the money says a V15+SAS.

Bear in mind that, like with any cartridge/stylus - you won't know if you actually LIKE the combination, until listened to, and there is practically no way to listen before purchasing the cartridge :(
 
Hi,

As stated you really don't know if you like something until you hear it.
I'd go for an AT440MLb with an SME as likely the best worth using.

Not the absolute best, IMO that would be likely an obscure ADC,
but the AT440MLb has a fabulous long lasting microline tip.

The best non MC cartridge I've heard is the Empire 4000 D/I with Jico shibata stylus. If you can pick up a used body cheaply that would be my choice.

A Shure V15 is also a sweet sounding cart though I still prefer the Empire sound. I've never heard a Jico SAS or LPGear Vividline on one though. From what I've read I think I'd lean towards the sound from a the Vividline stylus.

Your 2M Bronze is also a lovely cart though I think the stylus is just a touch too expensive on them. Very smooth, detailed and neutral.
