2nd owner 1963 Zenith Console

I just picked up a 1963 MK2602 Zenith console. The lady recently passed away and her grand-daughter didn't want to keep it, so I'm basically the second owner.

It's got a pretty nice setup - am/fm, bass/treble, bass boost, microtouch TT, dual amps. I haven't opened it up to see if it's bi-amp or dual mono amps. When I do, you all will be the first to see. ;)

I'll just venture to guess by your description, that it's going to have the seperate tuner and seperate integrated amplifier chassis with single ended 6BQ5 tubes for the left & right channels.

EDIT:

Does the amplifier look like or come close to this one?

I also have the matching tuner, but I can't seem to locate it offhand in all my buried junk.

Ok guys, here's the specs:

Amp# 4K21 - 120W, tubes 12AX7, 6BQ5(2), 5Y3GT. The brochure for it (did I mention I have documentation? :) ) says it's a 24W single-ended amp.

Stereo# 9H20LZ4 - 40W, tubes 6BA6(3), 6BE6, 6JK8, 6AU6, 6BN8, 6BC7.

I don't think the tweeter is putting out noise. The numbers on it's cap are 22-2945 and 3-30VNP. I also need a needle for the microtouch TT. Any help there?

The manual talks about synchronizing the two amps for loudness and balance; I guess the 2nd amp it mentions is the stereo.

More pics!

Yep! It's a little different from mine but it is a single ended stereo integrated amplifier. Probably a year or two older but still nice! FYI, I don't know why Zenith labeled their volume control as being "VOLUME & BALANCE", it is actually a double stacked potentiometer for both the left and right channels wheras one is the left channel volume, and the other is the right channel volume. There is no BALANCE control pertaining to the basic controls on amps that say, VOLUME, BASS, TREBLE, and BALANCE.

I replaced the xover caps (one per side), and realized the caps are for the mids, not the tweeters. The tweeters look to be 45ohms so no cap there makes sense. Somebody clued me in on the cap's specs (3uf, 30V), so I replaced those with Dayton's I had on hand. That means the mids are starting out at 6500Hz. Isn't that a bit nuts with a 10" woofer?
