$3,800 for a pair of AR-1 speakers ???

matched pair of vintage Acoustic Research AR-1 loudspeakers. These speakers are 100% original. The serial number for these speakers are 3497 and 3499. The grillcloth is complete and uncut.

It seems high, esp. since they aren't minty. OTOH, how many of these are there? Lots have probably had the hugely desireably 755a driver pulled out - and the rest chucked in the trash. Probably a die-hard asian AR collector....?

Almost certainly the Western Electric 755a midranges are what the buyer was after. Anything which says "Western Electric" goes for absurd prices in Asia.
