3 TTs,2 inputs?????????

So,I have 3 TTs now,don't ask me why....Project Debut,Essentials lll,and a Pioneer PL 518.
I thought I would buy a splitter box to a/b on one input and go direct on the other.I am using a Sansui AU 717.So I bought one that didn't look too cheap,and it works but seems I'm not getting the,what would you call it,clarity and it does not sound as well as if I just did 1 to 1.
Do I need a splitter with some sort of plug in power or something?
And if so could someone recommend a reasonably priced unit,thank you all for listening to me babble.

Why not use an external phono preamp into one of your line level inputs? Aux, Tuner or Tape In would all work. Using a splitter involves more cables and switching of the very low output of the cartridge(s) and might be more prone to signal degradation.

Ok,here's how it went.
On my PL 518 I have a Pickering XV15-625E.
On my Pro Ject Debut is an Ortofon M2 Blue.
Pro Ject Eessentials lll has an Ortofon OM10.
I plugged my Essentials lll to the box and it sounds so much better than it did in a phono input,wow!I was going to get the OM20 stylys for that but I'm good now.
And so you know,my other two turntables sound great in their own respective ways.The pickering actually gives me tighter bass.
 
Phono signals are very low, so switch boxes aren't the best (and extra cabling means more capacitance). They are OK with line level signals (eg. tuner, CD).
My solution would be to get another phono stage preamp, and plug into an aux input of the amp, but someone got in ahead of me! Pleased to hear it sounds better with it, not at all unexpected. The other solution would be to have a phono stage preamp that supports more than one phono input.
 
I think the splitter box may have added significant capacitance - very high load capacitance on the cartridge could explain the reduced clarity. You have to keep the cabling from turntable to phono-stage low-capacitance.

So, you need another phono pre-amp for the third turntable now.

The Sansui has 2 phono inputs so his extra preamp already solved the 3 turntable problem.
