34 Turntables - $800 OBO Impressive list!

Rock6x

2stupid2PostHere
This was posted on CL near Atlanta. I spoke to the guy on the phone, and he seemed very genuine. I think he has to move and can't take these with him. Check out the list. And if anyone from here wins, please let me know. He wants to sell the lot, and I'm only looking for one at a reasonable price. The list says 1K, but I think he listed it at $800, or that's where the bidding starts. I like that he's avoiding Ebay, and I hope he doesn't kill me for posting this here, but it's just too good an opportunity for someone who would have the cash flow.

His contact info. is included in the list. I have some pictures I'll post later...

interesting. What's that one standing on it's side(?) in the first pic. Mitsubishi??

I'm not well versed enough to know, but I caught that to. What does a Beogram look like? That was an odd name, that I can't say I've ever seen any pictures of. :scratch2:

EDIT: If he's selling all these TTs for a move, it sure does make one wonder what other kinds of HEAVIER equipment he's decided to take with him.

One could spend $800 and get ONE turntable better than the entire pile there.
Ahh, what do I know. :scratch2:

Best,

Paul :thmbsp:

The Beogram is a Bang & Olufsen turntable. You probably can't see it in the pic because they are about 3 inches thick, including dust cover. Supposedly good, if you can get the $150+ OEM stylus they need.

looks like 34 DIY RCMs just waiting to be built

:lmao::lmao:

I think it would be tough to find someone who would buy all those for the kind of cash he is asking. I guess there might be a reason someone would want all those TT's that need work. :dunno:

I've already got a dozen or so run of the mill turntables here; why would I want another 34??? The Dual 1019, Beogram and the Philips 212 are the only ones that pique any interest at all with me. I do run a dual 1258 in the garage as a "test" table for used LPs, but it's only staying there because of the ULM Ortofon cart and could wind out swapped out for a belt drive Japanese table in a heartbeat.

More work, but he'd be better off selling them singly, or even parting out some of them. Dual items; spindles and headshells can bring $25 a shot quite often.

Although, I guess someone could buy them, flip the boring ones and keep a few more collectible pieces and wind out financially ahead...

Rock6x, he owes you a thank you:

Frank, I have had such a response to my collection that I have open them up for auction until 5:00pm tomorrow. To date I have over 4 offers and two offers over $1,400. There will probably be a few just before 5 tomorrow. I will only accept cash or certified funds and the buyer pays for shipping. I have attached the list and some pictures. Thanks Dick

HOLY CARP!! :jawdrop:

I did NOT see THAT coming! I tend to agree w/the other posters, that unless this was just your thing to tinker w/fixing up & reselling, it's not very practical. But there might be one or two guys here who like to tinker & resell (ya think?) so for closer to the 800-900 and IF they didn't need much work/parts, I would have thought someone could come out ahead. At 14 Benjamins, I'm not so sure.

I looked at it this way: 800 for 34 tables, some which will fetch more than 100, some less, and again.... IF you either already had parts, or didn't need to spend much on parts, let's say it's an even 1K investment. You'd only have to sell 10 @ or around 100 to get your money back (not including time & labor here) and the rest would be gravy. That'd be 20-24 tables that even if you sold them cheap at only $50 a pop, you'd have made $1000-1200. If I was any kind of pro at refurbishing, and had the extra cash, LOVED my hobby & had the time to get 'em humming, I probably would have been tempted.

himm ~ As far as a thank you, if he'd just throw me a decent working TT my way, I'd be ecstatic! :D Fat chance, huh?.....

What is model is the TT in the second photo that is in the front left, near the top under that Sony? with the strange bubble dome dustcover... I think it is a Pionner

I think that may be what my dad used to have, and sadly it got tossed or something.

Nothing really that impressive in that list. Why someone would want that many turntables let alone pay that much for them is beyond me. If someone took the time to sell them all individually, they may be hard pressed to collect $1200, IMO.

Once again, P.T Barnum is reaffirmed
