Hi all,
I wanted to share this for anyone that might want to fabricate a replacement tuning bracket for the Technics SA-5470. This is as close as I could get to the original part by measuring with a caliper and eyeballing things.
Caveat - This would probably be better used to make a metal casting mold, and I would not recommend printing it and installing it as-is. If pot metal couldn't handle the stress of being pulled in one direction for 40 years, then I doubt PLA or ABS would fare any better. My next goal is to redesign this part and make it 100% 3d-printable and much sturdier than the original.
If you do cast a metal part from this, also keep in mind that the bottom right and left holes are tapped for the thread pattern of the original screws. The holes on the part I printed are smaller than the original screws, so there should be enough material to tap some threads into. Please let me know if anything doesn't fit or needs adjusted. Like i said, some stuff I just had to eyeball, and I haven't installed it in my SA-5470 because of the above caveat.

) to get things to fit perfectly but it's finally done. I've had this installed in my receiver for a little over a week, and there's no sign of cracking or bending yet. Time will tell if it's sturdy enough to handle the stress, but to be honest...I don't think the string is really putting that much tension on the wheel. This thing feels more than solid enough to handle the tension, and I'm hoping it'll last a long time. The best part of this being 100% 3d printable is that if it does eventually fail, I can always just print a new one and replace it.
