4 Drivers on one horn? Interesting EV's

Presumably designed for when you need super high volume without increasing the number of horns. Those 3 additional drivers will add 9dB to the output, all else being equal. Remember, these are designed for sound reinforcement, not home audio.

EV was big on manifold technology once upon a time.

The original all horn loaded MTH-4/MTL-4 system was a thing to behold. They were as, or more "hifi" than the majority of hifi speakers(within their directivity limitations). EV's attempt to surpass the Clair Brothers S4 system.

4 horns, 4 pass bands, 4 drivers on each. HUGE dynamic range.

They are unreasonably heavy, and anything but practical for load in/load out, stacking, or flying.

flown many a Thunderbolt rig in my youth.

Was going to make some comment about it looking like a Manhattan Project test device but I think MHardy's 288 pic wins the thread. :beerchug:

I would NOT want to be standing at the other end of the Altec test unit that mhardy posted while under power.
I wonder what it was used for? My guess is some government military use.

I have 2 MTL-2’s and can’t imagine trying to move MTL-4’s around.
