4-Lead Film Cap for XO?

ZeroG

Super Member
Came across the right value film cap, but I've never seen this style and wonder how / if it can be used for an XO.

Do the leads on each side just get connected as one lead?

This might be a mylar cap. While I've seen mylar caps in XO, wouldn't MPP be preferable?

Thanks

I couldn't find the cap online, either. I tried to measure the cap across one pair of leads, but it exceeded my meter's capacity (only goes up to 20uf).

What I read about caps with 4 leads is that the reason for the extra leads was to keep the size of the wire down to manageable size. I think this cap may have been meant for a motor, not sure.

Since my use of it would be for a speaker XO, I figure not much chance of blowing up something with some serious voltage running through it like on a power supply or main PCB.

It's for a pair of Atlantis Oracles that I don't want to invest $50 or more into for all film caps (they're already missing tweeters). I think these oval caps are mylar, though. I can parallel some MPPs I already have across them to get up to the 50 uf value I need.
