It seems to me that a 1/4” 4 track, 4 channel machine should be able to reverse play (of tape recorded in the traditional 2 channel method) with very simple electronic features.
Yet, all the “multi-track” or “multi-sync” machines such as the TEAC A-3440 appear to lack the facilites for reverse play.
Are dual capstans required for reverse play? anyone know of a 4 channel machine capable of reverse play. ideally auto reverse play.
I suppose it’s a bit of a head scratcher for me to consider certain reverse play machines that employed a 4 head arrangement rather than accommodating the feature with a 3 head 4 channel configuration.
