4240 as a pre-amp?

The 4240 doesnt have pre out/main in jacks. Currently, I have my tape out to a bose eq/tape in. From there amplifier out to the 1152.

I'm planning on buying a power amp. 170dc, 300dc, M's etc and maybe selling the 1152dc. I love it but I just have to have those meters. :yes:

Will the 170dc or 300dc require a seperate pre-amplifier? Or would be able to run it off the tape out signal alone and just swap it out with the 1152? I don't know much about pre amps. Please excuse my ignorance.

Tape outs bypass the tone controls, balance, and volume pots. You need something with a preamp out or a dedicated preamp so you can use the volume control. I'd sell the receiver (not a fan of receivers) and keep the 1152dc as a preamp.
