4270 foolishness! Please help!

I'm new here to the forum, so please extend a little grace while I learn the ropes here.
I have a 4270 in pretty decent shape, metal case, lights mostly functional, SOUNDS GREAT.
I made the mistake of disconnecting the dial string without first taking a picture of the routing. Does anyone have a topless picture of their 4270 with the dial string clearly visible?
Also, how can I align it once restrung?

Do you mean align it so that the pointer lines up with the stations properly after you have reinstalled the string?
If so, here is what you can do.
Tune into a strong station and then loosen the 2 screws on the black flywheel attached to the tuning section so that it will turn freely without changing stations.
Then use the tuning knob so that the pointer so that it lines up with the station that you are listening to and re-tighten the screws.

Welcome!! Here is a service manual from our own collection with a better diagream than any photo. I do have a couple of these so I could take a shot if needed. It shouldn't need realigned unless you took the string all the way off...hopefully not!

Thanks for your quick help, and for the schematic. Unfortunately, the string/wheel configuration in my 4270 is different from the one in the service manual. The two wheels nearest the dial are not near each other, one is actually bracketed to the right most edge of the inner case. I'll mess with it after work tonight and let you know how badly I mess it up!

Important first step: Alcohol is to be applied orally to the restringing operator. Beer, wine, whiskey...whatever. :-)
