How this for DIY ?
I have a nightmare of RCA cables running every where on the back of the stereo rack. My hands and eyes are getting old and I find it very difficult to work the cables when make a change in connections. I've considered a consumer grade RCA switch box as solution but even then it's a mess and hard grip to the individual cables.
Much of my gear is old enough to have a DIN socket on the back.
How about a 5 pin DIN switch box as a project?
It would result in half the cables, be easier to connect when making changes and be cleaner and more elegant as a solution.
Questions;
1. What is the pin-outs on the DIN plugs of old DIN enabled gear ?
2. What is the impedance ? Matching impedance is a big concern.
3. What type of switch is needed? Make before Break? Toggle or rotary ?
4. What type of shielding is required?
5. What would be involved in modifying the gear without a DIN socket?
6. What have not considered? as a result of my ignorance.
I've found 5 pin DIN switch boxes for sale but they, upon closer inspection, are wired for midi which only is using 3 pins. They won't work !
Any suggestion are welcomed. I'm just a musician and former computer technoid that knows just enough to be dangerous to me and my gear.

P.S. My lead guitarist has suggested a solenoid switching remote control as a refinement. He uses his stereo gear as a aid to transcribing tunes and would like to not to go over to his rack to change the input source.
