5 Pin DIN to RCA Phono Cable

Hi everyone,

I’m building my own phono RCA cable for my Grace 707 tonearm, which uses the below male connector. First pic is what plugs into the tonearm and the second are the connectors behind them.

Which pins do I connect the R and L RCA as well as the grounds for each? Also which pin do I connect the ground cable to?

Appreciate any guidance. Thanks.

Years ago, RADIO SCHAAACK made both 3-DIN din and 5 pin DIN adapters...eBay maybe?

Easiest way to be 100% sure is to do a continuity test from the head shell leads to the 5 pin din on the end of the Grace. draw a diagram and mark which is which. then solder the RCA's to the
5 pin socket according to your diagram.

Thanks! Stupid question. When I’m braiding the shielding of the Left RCA cable, which lead does it go to? Where does the braided shielding for the Right RCA?

I guess the DIN system of connectors was like the DIN ratings of film in photography, as opposed to ASA. A flop. I never knew what DIN stood for, or even if it's the same DIN in both. Some European system I suppose.

Hardly "a flop". DIN connectors have been used on thousands of pieces of audio gear, though they're less common now. Naim stuck with DIN connectors for years. Personally, I don't like them.

Shields should connect to the "0V" pins. The arm ground should connect to the separate ground wire that connects to your amp's ground screw.
