5000X question

I picked up a 5000X and a 5000a parts unit in worse shape. My understanding is the 5000X can have the board prone to failure and the 5000a is the later model with the revised board? If so can I PUT THE 5000a board in the 5000X if the board goes out?

Those boards were a factory warranty replacement, and you may already have them installed in your receiver. The good board number is F-6013, and they are clearly marked on the top area of the board. The F1040 board has the issues with heat (thermal runaway) where it can smoke and possible catch fire. Check this thread Here for more information on it. Good luck,

depending on the year it was made and production run, the 5000x can have either the F-1040-1 or F-6013 board. Although you can put a 1040-1 board in place of a 6013, board, its better to either fix the 6013 board or find one to put in place of a 1040 board. Its getting more difficult to find parts to retrofit the 1040 boards.

No it's in this order
1. 5000
2. 5000A
3. 5000X
