Help - '50's General Electric Model C 750 Tube AM Radio/Phonograph Console

I have access to a very nice working example (passed down through original family) General Electric Model C 750 Tube AM Radio/Phonograph Console.

Does anyone here know anything about this unit?

Any information greatly appreciated.

I read in an add for one advertised for sale in Toronto that they have Garrard tables in them.

It looks like a 1952 or 1953 model, has a VM 950 series changer and the GE RPX
Variable Ruluctance magnetic cartridge.

Thank-you orthophonic! The gentleman thinks it needs a new "as he calls it, needle" - think I could find one out there somewhere?

needle for that cartridge should be available. Probably cheap too.

Looks like a nice unit. The filter capacitors should be replaced , if they havnt been already, before they short out.

I think they track about 6 gr. and probably will only play mono records .

Went this afternoon and had a look - took a little time to think about it and called him back this evening.

Bought it!

Original and very near mint - cabinet gleams...the original purchaser even had a custom fit (angled glass) top made for it decades ago to protect the top...like new up there.

All original - radio works perfectly (I realize it may need some work (capacitors, tubes) sooner rather then later but that's okay - for $45 I think I can be okay with doing that. :thmbsp:

Nice rich warm sound - looking forward to listening to Hockey Night in Canada on it some Saturday.

The TT needs a little love - a good cleaning and re-oil job and a new styli and hopefully we should be good to go.

Even the original grill cloth has no stains and not a single pull on it - they didn't have cats or dogs!

Nice addition to my music room.
