6 ohm nominal impedence-ADS L810 and marantz 2252B

Couple of questions. Firstly what does the phrase "nominal impedence" mean? Secondly, I have the marantz 2252B and was thinking about getting a pair of the ADS L810's. Any issues with the marantz powering it? Thanks Norm

I run my ADS L810's with a Yamaha CR 1020. The 810's are sensitive so I think you Marantz should be fine powering them.
 
I think the question may have been, is 6 ohm load OK.

Nominal impedance
Nominal impedance in electrical engineering and audio engineering refers to the approximate designed impedance of an electrical circuit or device. The actual impedance may vary quite considerably from the nominal figure with changes in frequency. In the case of cables and other transmission lines, there is also variation along the length of the cable, if it is not properly terminated.


The 2252B and the L810 should live together quite well.
 
I used a 2245B to drive a 4 ohm pair of Infinity RSe and the Marantz never broke a sweat. You should have no problem with a 6 ohm load.

That amp is more than capable of belting out more than double that on a moment's notice. If that 2252 of mine was clipping while making the dishes in my cupboards rattle the diaphragms would be up in smoke because they don't tolerate clipping much at all.
As for the nominal ratings, I don't pay much attention to those. A lot of 8 ohm speakers should be rated at 4 ohm because their impedance is at or below 4 well into the mid-bass region where the vast majority of the energy in music is at. All the classic Marantz units will drive 4 ohm all day long.

So THAT explains the blue light on your avatar. I believe one of the upgrades of the Marantz "B" series was the ability to deal with lower impedence speakers, but I can't relocate the quote for that.
I would think that the 52 would do the 810's fine, but I had a 26B that was in need of more muscle. Fortunately, it had a preamp out on it.
That thing was prettier than fair skin on black upholstery and I kind of regret selling it.
 
I ran my l810s on my 2252b for a year and they sounded great. The amp had no issues. I came across a NAD C 275BEE power amp (150wpc) so I now use the 2252b as a pre only. That amp makes them sing! They are efficient speakers but they love power.
