I really hate it when some joker never reveals all the details, and sends people on a wild goose chase. If you would have disclosed the fact your input was from aTV, your "problem" would have been identified immediately...
No need to be a jerk about it. I specifically took it away from my TV and tested it independently to make sure that wasn't the problem before coming here, it just so happened that it makes the same noise with no inputs connected. Not to mention I never heard the sound from my Marantz 2216b in the years I've been using it with the same TV. It's an honest mistake, and I think you may drive users away from the forums with that attitude. I did my best to provide as much information as possible.
