Carter, I have most of my audio literature located in one place now, but seems to me I didn't find what you were looking for.

I'll take another look in the next couple of days....

My 30-A is also of the 3 tap variety. I suppose one day I should at least measure the DCR of the companion speaker....

Bumping an old thread.
Maybe I can try and answer the the 2.5 ohm tap question.
I just found a 610-ST w/ companion speaker and 30A in the trash.
I unfortunately could only fit the companion cabinet in my car.
But I did manage to get everything out of the other main cabinet, save for the Garrard TT itself. When I went back to get/photograph the empty cabinet with TT still inside it was GONE.

So this is from memory.
In the bottom of the 610 cabinet there were 3, 6"-7" speakers. There were no discernible markings on the speakers other than random code numbers.
The wires that come off the 610 fed an external speaker jack with a removable link, mounted on the back, from the terminals on that back plate inside, wires also fed the 3 alnico 6" inchers in the bottom of the cabinet.
But besides the three speakers, those same wires ALSO fed a clever switched controlled lamp, located up above inside the cabinet, right next to the TT. That was activated whenever the console lid was lifted, by push lever. But also run off those wires, was an exterior pilot light with green jewel located in the very bottom edge of the cabinet underneath where it says "The Fisher".
The cable from "Output To B Amp" was missing.
So in total there were 3 speakers and two lamps, one lamp I assume was a power on lamp, the other was only for interior illumination when the lid was lifted.
So if anyone who knows more about figuring resistances and impedance's than I, maybe they'll know how Fisher came up with a 2.5 ohm output.

I just checked the cabinet with the 30A that is out in the car. It is labeled on the back as The Fisher- 560P. I can not find any mention of the 560-P anywhere here on AK or on the net. :scratch2:
Though version of the 30A inside it does have the multiple taps, 4-8-16, though.

560 is the Unit Designation. "P" meaning provincial which was probably cherry. The 560 companion literature is on the FISHERCONSOLE.com page. It's probably a '59. http://www.fisherconsoles.com/consolette series 610.html

I've got a 510St and 560. I've retrofitted a 610 chassis into the 510 cab. The speakers are all 8". 1 of them has a whizzer cone. All are 8ohm wired in parallel.

The Pilot light and Lid light run off a separate tap on the transformer. Not the speaker lines. If it did the lights would be 1.) very dim, and 2. would fluctuate in time to the voltage pulses for the music. AND the speakers wouldn't get any sound to them.

The External speaker jack has the Jumper bar for a reason. Lift it out when using an external speaker. Put it back in for internal speakers. Running both at the same time would show an almost dead short to the output transformer. In which case the chances of it burning up go up exponentially.

The 30A with the 4-8-16 ohm taps is the last series to come out, the 30,001 - 39,999 inclusive series.

The Custom Electra III (1960) also used the 510-560 combo or 610-560 combo in one cabinet. These had provision for Multiplex on the 610 chassis. Changing over a 610 chassis is as simple as adding a RCA Jack and changing the wiring on 2 switch connections. http://www.fisherconsoles.com/custom electra III.html

Judging from the picture in the link, and your description.
You are correct, the one I found was a '59 Provincial.
But this 610 does not have a provision for adding stereo to the tuner, there is no MPX in or out, that I can see.

Look at the Custom Electra III schematic. It's a later version of the 610, and has the MPX jack. yours can be easily modified to take a mpx unit.

Just an observation.
My 560/30-A is connected on the 4 ohm, unlike the others in this thread that are on the 16 ohm tap. :scratch2:

Judging by the thick amount of dust and grime, and the way the speaker wires are tightly braided together, at the 30-A, I'd venture to say that it's an original untouched connection.
My 560 cabinet has the same three speakers, wired the same way, with black and yellow cloth covered wires, as the ones in the 610-ST cabinet.
Yes, I cut out all the wires on the 610, and took them with me, when I grabbed the chassis, I even cut and grabbed the pilot light.
