70th Anniversary of World War II "Dambusters" mission

OK, so it's a day late, but I only just saw this.

May 16th marks the 70th anniversay of Operation Chastise, more commonly know as the "Dambusters". On this night, a bunch of brave men took off with the mission to destroy dams deep in the heart of Germany, in the hope of crippling the Nazi war machine. A very interesting chapter in the annals of World War II that not many people were aware of.

Skip bombing was a technique used to destroy dams that provided power to heavy water plants operated by Germany as part of their atomic research program.
