Ready to start work on a 7t. Any reason to remove or not remove tape circuits? I dont/wont ever use them so they are just sort of hanging on.

The 7T is a historic and well-sounding preamp - deserving to be looked after and preserved. If you do not use the tape-circuits - leave them be. The next owner might want to use them. I do not see any reason to remove something - making this gorgeous pre-amp less desireable.

Removing the tape circuit will provide no value...

Bypass the Headphone jack....it has contacts that become an issue in the sound path over time.

Recap the unit.... 7Ts are 40 or more years old....

Make sure you clean clean clean all switches and RCA jacks.

Transistor sockets are 40 years old... Clean the transistor leads and the sockets with De-oxit.

The tape circuit is the same as aux / tuner etc.
Running through the x-10 and tone-amp.
It has no use to cut the wiring or something like that.
Just re-cap and resolder it, if you can that is.
