For those of you using the Raspberry Pi as a music server there is now a version with 8 Gigs of RAM. The OS has been updated it is now Raspberry 64. With future updates to this OS you will be able to designate the boot drive. A 16 Gig RAM version is coming soon.

There is an interesting side to Raspberry Pi's fortunes. The C-19 virus has been a wind fall for them. It turns out there are a lot of business who use Linux. People forced to work from home did not want to port their personal computers to Linux. The word got out about this cheap but very capable little computer called the Raspberry Pi that ran Linux. It is selling by the boat load to such users. Being huge fan of the Raspberry Pi this puts a big smile on my face.

You need a good case. This is the one I use. Bigger heat sinks, and a full set if them bigger fan, holds the logic board firmly and safely, with full access to the GPIO, and it looks cool! The Miuze $11.99

I've got an RP original plastic case that came from Element 14 when I bought it all those years ago. No heatsink and no fan. Wasn't using it as it's a pain in the butt to prise it apart when I box it all up when I've finished playing.

I really need a new Pi, the original version is very slow and the NOOBS OS card is an old Wheezy version of Raspbian which isn't supported anymore.
 
Love my Pi's for streaming. Wish I had waited for these new 4s to come out, but 4gb RAM is plenty for my needs. For now.

I am using the Jessie version of Raspbian on my RPi model B. It still works and gets updates. It is slow and really doesn't have much use anymore. I am running gene@home projects with it. It's core has run at 100% with overvolting for years. I can't kill it.
 
I have 3 RPs and thinking about getting another. I use my music player (RuneAudio) everyday while I'm working from home.

I guess I'm a fan too.
 
If I was in a position to track it it would be fascinating to document how the C-19 virus is going to change things. From other forums people forced to work from home have found out just how capable the various flavors of Linux has become. So many are not going back to a Windows platform, and the Raspberry Pi was their intro. As you might suspect this situation has had little impact on OSX users.
 
For those who don’t own a 4 yet, I’m here to tell ya, it’s next level stuff. The first true Pi that’ll compete with a real desktop. Run dual 4K monitors, usb3, and serious processing power.
 
The Rpi4 is still missing proper storage (NVME or SATA, it's on the SOC, but just not broken out into a connector). No, a SSD via USB3 is not proper storage ... enough :-).
 
I just added a RPi4 (2GB) to my collection. I use it as a headless music player (squeezelite) with no desktop installed. The OS is Raspberry Pi OS Buster. I have overclocked it to 2000MHz and overvolted it by 0.15V. Two of its cores run gene@home tasks @100% 24/7.

As reported, this Pi runs hotter than previous models. With a fan and a heatsink its temperature is 60C.

They need to do a Raspberry Pi Pro, with on board nvme slot, 16 GB of RAM and a faster CPU for $100. I'd be all over that.
 
I bought a RPi4 and I am happy with it but for the same $50 I just bought a Dell Inspiron 3847 with a 2 core multi thread i3 CPU, 4 GB RAM and a 256 GB SSD. Except for size, the Dell absolutely shreds the RPi4. If you are going to use the RPi4 as an actual computer I would think twice about that. There are better deals out there on the used market. This purchase was an eBay local pickup.

As part of my stereo system the RPi4 is great digital streamer though. :thumbsup:
