Either one of those Ebay kits will keep your Fisher running well for quite some time. They are basic kits though, you may want to get premium parts and better support from Jim McShane. The 800C is worth the extra cost for McShane's parts. But do pick one of the options for restoring your Fisher, those old caps are not good anymore. It's absolutely necessary to replace the selenium rectifier too. Test all of your tubes while you're restoring your 800C. Good luck!
 
If you're not experienced in doing resto work on other items already, I would give a strong recommendation to metalbone's kits. Decent parts, great documentation and instructions, and 100% positive reviews from previous purchasers.
 
I have used the Metalbone kits for the 800c and 400 and have been very happy. Both times the correct schematics and parts were included.

The other auction mentioned is The Fisher Doctor. As with anyone you buy from, do some research or get a recommendation.

As Jailtime says, don't forget to replace the selemium rectifier!!

My own suggestion is not to forget to clean out the tube sockets at least twice. It makes a big difference.
 
Does anyone know how I get a kit through Jim McShane? I did a google and found references to people using parts from him but no link to any site he may be operating. Thanks!

Also - does anyone know if he provides the schematics, etc needed? I am certainly not afraid to do the work but I would need the appropriate documentation.

Huh...interesting and quite good suggestion on the tube sockets. I am not sure I've seen that suggestion before now. Given the number of people that mention the rectifier I'd better make it a priority.
