800B Center Channel Output

Has anybody ever used the center channel output on their Fisher receiver? If so, what were the results? I've had my receiver for many years and never thought about the center channel output until I started using a pair of Klipsch Heresys and read one of the old Dope from Hope articles on speaker placement and stereo sound reproduction.

The line level center channel outputs on all one piece (i.e. integrated amps and receivers) Fisher equipment that is accessible by an RCA jack is simply derived by mixing resistors taken from (typically) the 16 ohm output tap on each channel. They may fancy it up with a level control, on-off switch, or indicator lamp, but that's basically all it is. Therefore, it is controlled by all front panel tone, volume, filter, and source switching controls. It is perfect for connecting a powered sub to the unit.

Thank you for the explanation. I ran a splitter to the powered subwoofer and it works great, especially when the crossover is trimmed to start where the Heresys drop off.

I played with different crossover settings yesterday and they all worked good. People complain about the lack of bass in Heresys and propose all sorts of mods. My advice is to get a powered sub and put the time and energy spent on modding the speakers into something else.

Does the output of the Center Channel on Fisher 400 increase or decrease with the volume control on the receiver? Or do you have control the volume on the powered sub itself?
