881 and 6060. Which would you keep and why?

I was curious, does the 881 have pre-out, amp-in jacks in the back? That would be one more reason to use the 881, if that were the case. Up through the 7070 did not have those jacks.

No. The 881 does not have pre-out, amp-in accommodations.

Just rebuilt a 771 and a 881 both are amazing receivers, I'm a Pioneer guy but these are outstanding...keep the 881

Absolutely keep the top of the line 881! Especially considering that you already have an x0x0, not to mention one with all four meters (i.e. the 6060 and 5050 lack the output power meters of the 7070 and higher).

I have an 890, 6060, 8010 and 771, and the only one that hasn't been used in the past few years is the 6060. Not to say that it's not a great unit, but I have it just as a backup to the 890, and as such it's been in a drawer since 2011...

Good point jrob. It is a good idea to have a few spare receivers (I have enough stuff to last my lifetime and maybe one more lifetime) in case somethings goes wrong and you can't fix it or you can't get a part.

Thanks everyone for your response. Related to this thread, I have recently been comparing the schematics of the 881 to the physically bigger and later model 7070. I noticed that the later 7070 has a higher power transformer main power amp stage winding than the 881, by a half an Ampere. 3.5 versus 3 or 213.5 Watts vs.186 Watts for the main winding of the power amp stage. Now this may not seem a lot to you, but there are many receivers out there where the whole receiver uses a half and amp all told. So a 15% larger transformer winding can provide extra current when needed. The rest of the transformer comparison is pretty similar from the 881 to the 7070 but the 7070 has a larger enclosure.
