881 - need a transistor

I traced the 'no audio out' to a shorted transistor on the Driver Circuit Board(F-2436)

2SA706 (Sansui p/n - 0300401) Two local electronics stores(in Toronto) were unable to help me cross reference the number correctly - one quoted a price of $42.
Can someone offer any advice.

If it was me, even if the originals are still available, I would go for the OnSemi MJE 30/31 combo if you are looking at a pair needing replacement. If it is a pair, don't replace one without he other.

You can get the Onsemi's anywhere ie Mouser,Digikey,Newark..etc. Just double check the pin-out. ie BCE or ECB etc.
