9090 receiver in protection

Hi
I picked up a 9090 receiver stays in protection light just keeps blinking red but will come out of protection with the F-2436-1 board pulled , found that the bus fuse was blown on this F2436-1 board is it a 7a 125v ? . I have some electronic repair skills but not sure if i shoud take it to a tech.

Any suggestions are appreciated .
were can i finds fuse RS didnt have then

Replace the fuse and power it up with a dim bulb tester. You can get fuses at radio shack......
 
thanks for the tip will make dim bulb tester ,there a striker on the board below low the marked fuse 7A-125 radio shack didn't have a 7A -125 i think that the fuse i need

replaced fuse with pig tail with a 7a 250v on the F-2436-1 board still in protection light just keeps blinking red , fuse didn't blown what should I check next

Fuse Resistors

First step on any 9090 or 9090DB or most Sui's from that era is to check and replace ALL fuse resistors. This is the main plauge of these wonderful units. They're the powder blue ceramic looking resistors, identified in the SM as resistor FR. There are quite a few and it is never the question of IF they will fail it is just WHEN. And at this stage in these units life WHEN is NOW.
 
i didn't see the 2 fuse with pig tail with a 7a 125v on your F-2436-1 board ? were they off for the photo.

There are so many different manufacturers changes to that board it will make your head spin. Just check/replace your fuseables and replace your fuses if they need it. This particular board did not have the fuses.
 
Resistor

just got some parts in i fould the 1 Watt 8.2k ohm 8k2 Metal Film Resistor R 1W , looks like there 10 in your photo ? .Plus you show 2 big ones on the top of the board what size would they be ?

1 Watt 8.2k ohm ..Usually its the small ones at the bottom of the board the most frequently go bad.
 
i was looking at your photo you have 12 Green lines depict suspect "out of tolerance small resistor pointed out. if i get the (1 Watt 8.2k ohm 8k2 Metal Film Resistor R 1W ) would this be right and what about the 2 big resistor one on top of the board ?

I don't understand what your trying to say.For all the smaller resistors I use 1/2 watt metal films.They are not all the same resistance values.You will have to pull each one and measure them.Look at the service manuals parts list for the correct values.The two larger resistors at the top of the board are most likely OK. They are 8.2KΩ at 1 watt if needed.
 
i read your info wrong sorry ... will start pulling each one and measure and checking manual the 12 you pointed out in photo for starters

here a photo of the board i'm working on, looks like it has two size of Metal Film Resistor and only 4 of them each side , i photo havn't put the fuse back in, how do i check the Resistor ? sorry I have to ask I haven't worked on a radio for 30+ years

All those small blueish resistors that are mounted standing above the circuit board are suspect " fuseables".. Replace with 1/2 watt metal or carbon film's. I use metal film--just because.
To measure there resistance pull one lead away from the board- using your meter in the Ω's function attach a test lead to each end of the resistor and record and compare the actual reading to the color coded value .

Brown-green-brown 150Ω
yellow-violet-gold 4.7Ω
red-red-black 22Ω
brown-black-black 10Ω
orange-white-brown 390Ω

etc...

Like I said there are so many different variations to these boards it will make your head spin.
