90s cars that may become future classics?

What model of cars from the 90s do you think it's going to be a worthwhile classic in say, 30 years? I'm not talking about exotic cars like a Lambo or a Skyline, but cars that ordinary people would buy and drive it. I want to say the Lincoln Mark VIII, 10th-gen Ford Thunderbird, 97-99 Cadillac Deville (last of its kind to have the old school vertical taillights), Ford Taurus SHO, the Dodge Spirit R/T, and GMC Typhoon/Syclone.

I have a lightning, seems the trade in is pretty darn good on those. from your list I think the typhoon / syclone would be a great choice, just my opinion

'94 - '96 Impalla SS. 14 second quarters with very slight mods says something. Honorable mention goes to the slightly too old '87 Buick GNX.

borderline exotic but affordable 97 99 C5 vette actually any of the C5 cars

My vote goes to the 93' Mustang Gt Cobra...last year for the foxbody mustangs, and a real collectors classic.

Buick Roadmaster Wagons :D
(but you knew I'd say that).

Also 9C1 Caprices, '94-'96 Impala SS, Mercury Marauder, Lexus LS-400, things with a 2JZ in them, '94-'96 Caddy Fleetwood Broughams, late ninties Pontiac Bonnevilles (that haven't been donked out).

5.0 mustangs from 93 on back, it was the Trans Am of the 90s. not many left in good condition. 98-99 Z-28 because of the Ls-1, probably the TA also.

Call me a pessimist if you will, but with all the plastics and highly integrated electronics in '90s (and newer) cars, I can't help but think that anything that survives another 30 years in good shape will be a rare collectible.

i'll add another Mazda, the 2nd gen MX6 Mystere...they said it was destined to be a classic right in the ad's that sold them LOL...you don't see many now but the design does still hold up.

the first gen MX6 also makes it into the 90's...the turbo GT was dubbed the MX-Missle,if you could find a GT now you're doing well, but if you could find a turbo with the four wheel steering?you got one exceedingly rare car.

Toyota Supra Mark IV twin turbo. Scary fast, tons of torque from that straight six and handled like it was on rails.

None or not to many if you have it up here in Canuck Land!
Salt and all that Jazz they'll never last or stand up that long!
Not like the OLD CARS from 40-70 yrs ago that's for sure:)

I would like to add:

  • Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 or Dodge Stealth R/T
  • Ford Thunderbird Supercoupe (especially with the manual trans.)
  • Acura Legend (especially with the manual trans.)

Oldsmobile Aurora (Series One)

And not just because there's one in the drive, although that certainly has something do do with it, as it wouldn't be in the drive if I didn't like it ...

My only complaint (other than it's a nightmare to fix anything - and that's common to most anything post '80s) were the butt ugly wheels on the stocker. Did some digging and found these off a 2001 Grand Prix ... tight fit, as the brakes on the Aurora are a LOT bigger, but they DO fit ...

Couple marks of a classic - low production (total of around 130,000 over five model years) and it do turn heads every now and then. Then again, that could be my driving ... <G>

these were actually pretty cool little cars. A good friend had one and drove it like mad man, pretty fun. Really do not see very many on the road anymore though

Heres my list:
LT1 B-Bodies
Chryslers with the Turbo III engine (Spirit R/T and Daytona IROC R/T)
ZR1 Corvette
Corvette Gran Sport
Corvette Collector Edition
'93 Cobra and the '93 Cobra R
'96 to '98 Mustang Cobra
'95 Cobra R
F-150 Lightning
Dodge Stealth R/T
Mitsu 3000GT VR4
Supra Twin Turbo
Mitsu Eclipse GSX/Eagle Talon TSi
Mazda RX7
'92 to '99 SLP Firehawk
'91 to '93 GMC Syclone

Some of the cars listed above crack me up. Auroras? Nobody will want those years down the road. Hell, nobody wants em now because the motors seized up in most of em :lmao:. The Escort too, the kids wont be salivating over the grocery getters we used to drive. I dont drool over my moms old '78 Pinto. I thought this thread would be more about performance cars or rare cars and not full of stuff you find millions of at the local pull 'n pay scrap yard :D
