9842a cabinet question

So 9842A are basically model 14 right? I had no luck finding a schematic for the protection circuit for either speaker. But there is this thread on the AUB about bypassing the protection circuit on M14s

Sorry Bowtie, I got nothing ( nada, and as far as I know, the circuit was never committed to paper > Richard C. is my go-to-expert on all things M14 and he always recommended simply bypassing the protection circuit ).

While it's a very interesting circuit, it's really quite un-necessary within the home environment for a 10 watt diaphragm ( I have to wonder why Altec spent so much energy on a circuit like this in their period of downward spiral > that's not a cheap circuit! )

Howdy, I need advice on repairing a set of Altec Lansing 9842a monitor cabinets. Someone had removed the original 12" drivers and enlarged the opening for 15" Radio Shack woofers.

I have a set of the original Altec woofers just renconed at GPA.

How can I repair the opening to original size? I have correct dimensions as I have a set of Model 14's.

How much did GPA charge to have them reconed?
