$9k for a Marantz 2600?

Most I've seen in this shape or better go much higher on average!
Whatever the Market will determine it's selling price for the most part.
After all it's Marantz's TOTL piece of Audio History:)
 
There was one on the Bay for 14 large not long ago it was a cherry complete restored unit at least according to the seller looked like it also .I think it sold that is unless this is the same one one.
 
As always, it's worth exactly what someone will pay for it. No more, no less. So far, after a few weeks, that one hasn't sold for $9K. I will admit I've returned more than just a few times to that auction, and drooled at length.
 
I know the tech. I just bought a restored SX 850 from him, along with that 1010 over there. That is his work listed, he is that good. Those pictures may not be of the sellers, but in the basement of the tech. Hard to say.. Unit appears overpriced. He just did a 1980 for 1000.00 . Better than the original.

Yes...Chris Ready goes overboard with his restores, and will outlast the owner...I've always wanted one of the 9090DB's he has done....:thmbsp:
 
I see two in the photos.
SO, my hunch.

1) he bought two and paid heavily.
2) he had them both completely reworked, and paid dearly.
3) he is trying to sell one to pay for all the cost.

IT was the big mac daddy in the day. 9K? I'd doubt it, but there are much crazier people than me out there and for some reason they have $$$$.

Years ago I saw a 9090 down there when I bought the 1010. A magnificent specimen, he hadn't put it up for sale yet. Surprised you know of him, being so far away. The 850 is my first big silver face, it is an electrical masterpiece and goes to 94 ( !) watts into 8 ohms before clipping. His stuff is hard to resist when you see it. He works long hours on them, and is very reasonable.

blhagstrom..I'd wager that both did not cost nearly what he is asking for one. And I think I have seen it before, also. But that Marantz will outlive all of us. There is no need for another piece of gear if you buy it.

That eBay seller specializes in picking up classic Marantz gear in great cosmetic shape, have them restored electrically, and list them for top notch prices, and GET THEM....his feedback and sold listings show highend Marantz pieces over and over and over....nice pictures, good descriptions and reputation pays off...

If it's on AK, someone would have seen it. Several years back, an AK'er who was very happy with a "Ready restored" 9090DB had a nice post with very nice pictures, and it was signed too! And Chris posted for a while as well...
