A+B volume question

On your average receiver, should the volume level decrease when toggling both (or more) pairs of speakers, A and B? I recently bought a Sony STR-VX200 receiver, 20wpc. A is EPI MT3, B is EPI 50. If I have A playing, then press B the overall level of sound decreases a bit. If I have B playing and press A, same thing. My SX-1010 (CS-901a/CS-901/EPI 100) does not do this when adding in B or C for example.

It depends if the A and B sets are connected in series or in parallel. In my amp, the connection is in series, and you hear a "loss" when you connect both sets.

maybe a plus b is wired in series .. do you have the manual ?
you could find out by wiring to a or b on their own then selecting a plus b . if series connected you wont hear any sound .

Must be series connection. Thanks for the responses. No free manual on the internet that I can find.

As petehall said, in my amp, if you connect just the A speakers and select "A+B" at the amp, audio output is disconnected.
