A Bose 301 question, and no brick throwing please!

Yes, some audiophiles are biased against Bose. But the criticism is generally that for a given amount of money spent on a brand new Bose speaker, one can nearly always do better with a different choice. When a Bose speaker comes your way at a great price, and it suits your intended purpose, then it's a whole new ball game!

IMHO, the 301 gives the best price/performance ratio of any of the Bose models. I picked up a used pair of 301's for my photo darkroom. They are right for easy listening, and they project a uniform sound field as I move about the darkroom. There's no hope of sitting in the "sweet spot" in a darkroom, as I move from enlarger to developer to hypo to wash tray.

It's all a matter of matching the right gear to its intended purpose. "Horses for courses" as they say.
