I noticed that ad, too.
I stopped by the guy's place two days ago. The big ESS speakers needed the woofers refoamed. The more recent amp was too recent (black plastic and all). The Luxman R-1050 he had...
Is sitting here playing CPE Bach from 90.9 FM. It's situated not far from my R-1040 and R-3030. The POTS need cleaning, and there's a possible soldering job in the old girl's future this fall. The rosewood covered 35 pounder sounds good to me, though.

That is the piece I would have picked up. Nice addition to the collection

Nice pick up. What's the deal on the tuner knob that didn't turn (per his add)? Something easy, I bet.

The guy was mistaken. The knob works just fine. It's got personality, though; it's like a wheel on my father's old Camaro, wobbly and in need of (physical) alignment. I figure his kids must have gotten hold of that knob and yanked it damn near off.

Anyway, this Luxman has the best sounding tuner I've ever owned, and one of the best I've heard.
