A Dust cover hinge cross reference thread

Sometimes, finding hinges for a table isn't as easy as you think. I picked up a Technics SL-1301 a while back with a broken cover and no hinges. While I could replace the cover easy enough, finding hinges for it was like finding a needle in a haystack.

I've been watching a couple of searches on that auction site, just to see if what I needed popped up on something else, and sure enough, some posted hinges from a Technics SL-D5 that were identical to the SL-1301. I also found hinges for my spare JVC QL-Y55f (the QL-Y5f's are identical as well).

Hopefully others will chip in on this as well, so we can have one really good thread on what hinges fit what tables because they really are getting hard to find now.

Great idea. There must be a better way to accumulate all the data gathered though. Spreadsheet or something similar. Don’t know, just like the idea. Same with stylus and cartridge used. Some stylus fit multiple cartridges.

Yea! I've seen a lot of people wanting hinges but can never find them. This is what I was going on (I believe it was from vinyl engine), but it's just for some Technics models:

From oldest generation to newest:

Gen 1. SL-1300, 1400, 1500 and the black xx10 versions (SL-1310, etc)
Gen 2. SL-1600, 1700, 1800 and the black xx10 versions
Gen 3. SL-1300MK2, 1400MK2, 1500MK2 and the black xx10 versions
Gen 4. SL-1600MK2, 1700MK2, 1800MK2 and the black xx10 versions

Then lastly you have the SL-1301, 1401 and 1501 and the black xx11 versions. These are a kind of breed between the Gen 2. and Gen 3. with some parts of both versions and some unique parts. Let's call this Gen 2.5 These series have the same dust cover, hinges and feet as the Gen 2. series.

Since you have the SL-1500 Gen 1. you can look for compatible feet etc in the models listed under Gen 1. The feet on the Gen 2. series are different so you cannot use them.

Also, you cannot use a SL-1200mk2 cover since the hinges are different. Unfortunately the hinges of the SL-1600 series are of another type too so you cannot use those either. Well I guess you can, but you would need to measure the dimensions and verify if they are right (the width and depth probably are, almost) and modify the hinges.

And we can add the SL-D5 in with the "Gen 2.5" group. That's confirmed. But there are so many different makes and models it's hard to find anything on.
