A few Sansui accessories

@ToniCH, all components in this series that were pictured with rack handles originally came with them as standard "in the box" accessories. The rear bumpers were also included on the larger, heavier items like amps and tuners. The SE-7 used a slightly different set of handles, the mounting holes are on different dimensions. I think these may also have fit a couple of the cassette decks, but I'm not 100% certain.
Ok, thanks. So, I'll need to investigate more before buying anything.

If this helps?

Stumbled into couple of Sansui stereo mics. They both seem to be in perfect condition and came with all accessories. Probably with very little or no use. Need to get batteries for them and try them out with my "reporter decks".

Sansui had sponsored some race cars with that style logo. I wonder if it was the same time frame

1978 according to this link:

Looks like you can even buy the slot car

There are REAL Sansui Racing Team 'patches' around in Sweden but I've only seen total two. Bought one - NOS patch (shirt or jacket type patch to sew on) from Stene (RIP)- the other one was for sale on some European 'site'. I was thinking about getting that one too but someone 'jumped on it' to quick. That one was used but in VG+ condition. They measure 3.75"x2.0" in size. I put mine in a really fine matted leaning table frame - my Sansui 'sign' on the end table next to the stereo. Keep it NOS forever.

Thanks for the post! Cool decoration model. Stene has a lot to do with the sponsorship of the racing team car. 1978 is the first time I've ever heard a year.

Just found out the 'scoop'.
----------------------------
Sansui sponsored the Ford Escort MkII racing in Sweden. The “Sansui Racing Team” appears to have been a sponsorship identity, not a full factory team, centered around driver Leif Nilsson in the Swedish Special Saloon / STCC‑style national series in the late 1970s.

Below is the clearest, evidence‑based reconstruction of the car and team’s history.

What we can confirm about the Sansui‑sponsored Escort MkII
Sansui Escort MkII — Identity & Specs
All sources agree on the same core facts:

It was a Ford Escort MkII RS, modified to Zakspeed / Group 5–style “Special Saloon” specification.
Sponsored by Sansui Stereo High Fidelity (the Japanese audio company).
Driven by Leif Nilsson, a Swedish touring‑car/special‑saloon driver.
Raced in the Swedish Special Saloon / Swedish Touring Car Championship (STCC) environment.
Engine: Ford‑Cosworth‑Zakspeed 2.0L, approx. 235 hp (Group 5‑style).

1977–1978 seasons — Years Raced
The car ran in the 1977 Swedish Special Saloon season.
It is also documented as competing in 1978, in what is described as the Swedish Touring Car Championship (STCC).

Performance — Results
--------------------------
In 1978, the Sansui Escort won the Swedish championship, winning 5 of the 6 races that season.
This is the only explicit season‑level performance data available from the sources.

️ Was there a “ Sansui Racing Team ”?
There is no evidence of a formal, multi‑car “Sansui Racing Team” operating like a factory outfit.
Instead, the sources consistently describe: A single car, Sponsored by Sansui, Driven by Leif Nilsson, entered in the Special Saloon / STCC national series.

This suggests the “team” was essentially Nilsson’s entry carrying Sansui branding, not a broader organization.

Consolidated Timeline
--------------------------
1977 Season
Escort MkII RS appears in Swedish Special Saloon competition.
Driven by Leif Nilsson.

Sansui sponsorship already present.

1978 Season
Car competes in what is described as the Swedish Touring Car Championship (STCC).
>> Wins 5 of 6 races and becomes champion.

After 1978, no sources show further Sansui‑branded entries, suggesting the program ended or the car was retired/repurposed.

Amazing research, thank you for posting that!

And they won the Swedish Touring Car Championship in their second season:

"In 1978, the Sansui Escort won the Swedish championship, winning 5 of the 6 races that season."

Congratulations to Leif Nilsson & the team.

I wonder if any races are on youtube etc we can maybe see it in action
