With extra gear and time on my hands (recently retired), I decide to set up a fun little system for our front room. Theoretically a living room, this space has become mostly an entry hall, with our main living space elsewhere in the house. Here's the system: Bluesound Node 2, Topping E30 DAC, Topping L30 preamp/headphone amp, and Parasound zAmp v. 3, with SDH 6 speakers. The speakers were built by our own @Celt, who put new drivers, crossover, and wiring into repurposed Cambridge Soundworks cabinets. Cabling is probably overkill - DH Labs digital cable, Kimber PBJ interconnects, and Analysis Plus speaker cables.
The system sounds amazingly good for what I have in it - excellent bass down into the 30s, very smooth midrange, and nice highs.
