Here's a pic of my just-completed complete TU-217 tuner recap and lighting install. Almost complete credit goes to p4spooky for his excellent 217 refurb posting here and for answering questions about it. I also got info from the fmtunerinfo website. The color in the pic is a little off but you get the idea. It took a couple of resisters to get the LED's intensity down. The tape you might see is me trying to block the upper bevel of the front dial lens. It reflects the individual LEDs and looks like a cinema marquee. I'll have to see what I can use to discreetly cover the bevel all the way across. I tried black marker but it did not block the reflections. (I did get it off.) All in all, I'm so happy!!!114848.jpg

Good one ellisonb, I have both 217 & 317 in 2 racks, the loud rack with dial lights and meters and a quiet rack with just the power leds...quirky eh :rolleyes:

I love reading online sellers quote "lights not working" on the 217 ads....no research flipper! o_O

..Great job on adding lighting to a TU-217, as I think they were they only models? in the AU/TU-_17 lineup that were not optioned out with dial lights?.

Thanks Moe! I think you're right about the models. My understanding is that the 217, the 317 and 417 were the same tuner with greater or lesser features added (317 and 417 are illuminated among other things). But the clearer signal path is supposed to help the 217. We'll see. I am going to give the caps at least 100 hours before making any judgements...

WOW, I had heard the World was watching this....so not just media hype!! Yes we are all very happy it turned out as it did, not the usual ending in these matters. The suspect was charged last night and will face the courts next month. He attempted self-harm twice before being charged so I hope this makes it to court and gets to face his actions and we learn why.

Congrats go to the West Australian Cops for persevering on all leads......All the same I reckon the Media has had a field day in creating the frenzy as they do.

Sit back and enjoy the music, we still need to look after our own well-being in order to endure what is thrown at us all.....:thumbsup:
