A Newbie's Remorse? - 6060 -

Recently I've been following Sansui on Ebay and was attracted by their cute green dial lights and the prevailing cheap prices I see there. Kinda dumb reasons to buy something I've never seen or heard I think. But...

I impulsively bid $39 on a 6060 late one night thinking that someone else would win it, but NO I was the only bidder.

It was a real ignorant win, and so now I'm curious if I should have buyers' remorse?

I'm hoping that someone with experience with the 6060 will tell me I didn't buy junk. I'm also curious the difference between the 6060 and 7070. Thanks!

No, you did not buy a piece of junk. I have a 6060 that I use as a garage set up. Although mine is showing its age a bit, it still provides me with good clean Sansui sound. :thmbsp: Welcome to AK, I'm sure others who may have this receiver will post.
 
Welcome, sounds like a good deal, as long as the seller does'nt gouge you on shipping and it is in pretty good shape when you get it.
 
If it is working condition, you will not be disappointed with your purchase. It is not a high power unit but you will be surprised at the amount of power it does have. Love that Sansui sound.
 
billgill, welcome to AudioKarma. For $39 you did real well. The 6060 is a nice little receiver and a great place to start.

You definitely did not do a bad thing. The x0x0 series of Sansui's are pretty much the standbearers of Sansui'dom and the 6060 is a beauty -- you will be pleased. And, the average price on eBay is $50 so you also did good in that dept. :thmbsp:

Cool video, you can't go wrong with your purchase but you may be starting down a slippery slope. You will not stop there...:D

That's a good deal, but like my friend Whaleman said, now you gotta see what a 7070 can do, then it's an 8080...but gee the *9090db is well respected...but G, there's a G series too?
Hmm...look at that cute little 2000x...and only $50, with a wood case too!

like others have said you didnt to too bad at all.myself i own a 5050 and paid more than what you did for the 6060.i'm sure if your not happy with it you could recoupe the money you have in it.beware though sansui's are addictive,once you have one you'll want more.:yes:btw welcome to AK.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Start saving your pennies. Pretty soon it'll be Marantz's and Pioneers. And don't forget Sansui has some pretty nice amplifiers and tuners as well. After 5 years I'm still saying "What a long strange trip it's been":nutz:...........R1

Believe it! Casey gave me the same advice just over a year ago when I got my first Sansui, an au/tu555. I now have a house (or two!) full of the stuff!
Still its a excusive looney bib to be in I suppose? and better than spending your spare cash on booze, drugs and wild women! (well maybe not?).

I started with a 5050 ( still one of my favorites) then found a 500a ( great when they don't crash and burn!), then a Marantz 2250, followed by a Yamaha 820 and a Luxman @-1040. Just had to try the other.....
Came cack to my senses, and in order, purchased a 8080DB ( my very favorite), a G-7500, and fianlly a 9090 and a 9090DB. So....you see....you are now a memeber of a very unique fraternity.
Enjoy your 6060 - it a a great machine. What you'll find is that with some fairly recent, efficient speakers, you will have power to spare, and your ears will not handle much more than what the 6060 can deliver - it is a very reliable member of the Sansui family. Welcome Aboard!
