Amazing how remarkably easily it all went down-except in Romania. My uncle was in Germany on business when it happened, he said the Autobahns were flooded w/Trabis & Wartburgs, buzzing along at about 65-each one trailing blue smoke. The people inside were all pressed up against the windows, each one a study in bewilderment & astonishment as the REAL cars-Audis, BMWs, Mercedes, VWs, whizzed by.

I remember the joy and exhilaration on the people's faces on the news.

Interestingly, our son is in Budapest for the semester as of last weekend. He said tomorrow's a big deal; fireworks, military flying displays...
