A Picture of THE coolest tube ever!

Hey-hey!!!,
Here is a big one. Thoriated tungsten filament, 450W plate dissipation and it is a true 3-grid pentode. If output TX's for 1k5V ov B+ and 300W@20-20kHz could be built without too much capacitance or leakage inductance, I have a six-pack of them ready to build...:)
cheers,
Douglas

But first of all there would have been virtually no reason for a paratropper to have something that would tell him the weather these guys were only supposed to be on their own for a few days before linking up with troops from the beaches. And any weather info needed for air cover would have come directly from England or the Navy off shore. Not some guy watching a thermometer in the french country side.

There was a need. In WWII they used pathfinders as advance parties for airdrops operations as we do today with combat control teams. Of the many things they do with drop zones, they provide up to date weather to incoming aircraft to improve accuracy of cargo and personnel drops. Don't know if that equipment was used with weather balloons but modern equipment does so winds and temperature at altitude over the drop zone can be given to the aircrew. Offshore and distant weather statins can only provide an area forecast and unless they have a weather station behind the enemy lines, anything the issue is just an educated guess. The guy in the french countryside would give much better info.
