A question about Klipsch KG4 speakers

I'm considering a pair of Klipsch KG4 speakers, and I have a question that I hope the Klipsch experts out there can help me with.

Back in 1981 when I bought my JBL 4311B's, my second choice at the shop that day was a Klipsch speaker about the same physical size and cost ($400 apiece or so). Could this have been a Klipsch KG4 (I do not remember the actual model that I was comapring), and if not, what model Klipsch might if have been?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I don't know what model the speakers you are inquiring about are, but, you can't go wrong with the KG4's. I have several models of Klipsch and I think that the KG4's are one of the best at their size. It just seems that Klipsch got it right with these.

Let me clarify my question a bit - were KG4's available in 1981, and what did they approximately cost back then? What if any other Klipsch speakers from 1981 would have cost around $400 in '81. I'm trying to see if the KG4 was the speaker I almost bought back then, because I'm gonna be looking over a pair soon.

I don't think the kg-4 was available until around 1987. Bought mine new in 88 for about 550.00

It's hard to believe these things are 20 years old. Still as good as new.

Thanks for the info. So no, I was not trying to buy these in '81 - now I wonder what I was looking at :-) Maybe some Heresy's?
 
The KG-4's were rated at 4-6 ohms & the 4.2's - 8 ohm's...........other than that are there any other differences?
