I can't find anything online about this particular unit. All I know is that it was manufactured for LXI by Sanyo, (The 564 number on the rear indicates it as a Sanyo product.)
However, I did see this same CDP in a VWestlife video about his cheap Yorx CDP, showing a vintage advertisement with both of these players. So I guess that puts this CDP's level of quality in the Soundesign/Yorx department. Apparently this model retailed for $131.99 back then. Not bad, it's certainly better sounding than the Pioneer DVD player I was using. The sound quality is warm and quite bassy, almost like a vinyl record but more accurate. Although, I'm 100% positive that there are better sounding 80's CDP's out there.
It reads music CD's just fine, although it was having a bit of trouble at first. A quick blast of compressed air into the CD tray's internals fixed it up. It doesn't seem to like CD-R's, though.
