Thanks for getting back to me.I have the exact same ones with lights.Could you tell me how you hooked yours up and what is needed?There's some driver boards on Amazon I was thinking of getting that has the option for meter lights.mine came from a old mccurdy studio console that I plan on repurposing part of it for a build using the meters and possibly adding some led ones and possibly a spectrum eq.

Ok also going to try and use some of the daven pots of I can and a a few of the switches because of the quality and I'm old school

No problem, have another set that doesn’t have lights, and consider using LED lighting for them , that’s simple (comparatively) ;)

Simple is key for me so the way mine is done is with a small, separate transformer, which gets power from the Bucking transformer that powers both amps, it’s hidden in the box between the amps….

One could replace the light bulbs with LEDs—you’re probably aware but controlling the LED output/illumination is key if one wants to maintain an original look….used LEDs on my 300B mono amps, just sanded the plastic to soften the display IMG_0913.jpegIMG_0810.jpeg

2.Are they connected to the output transformer or line level?
Just trying to figure out what I need to get it started.
I plan to start my own thread once I get things figured out on what I'm actually going to do .At the minimum is just getting the meters going.As for adding other led vu meters and a possible vcd display That can come later on .lord knows I have enough room on the panel.
By the way that is one sweet 300b Amp.Love the old meter as well.
 
Maybe buy the VU meters you would like and buy just the VU meter driver boards? The driver board kits aren't very expensive.

I had thought of harvesting some meters from an old cassette deck. I also used this '20s voltmeter to monitor the bias in my Fisher 440 console pull (recalibrated to show bias x10).

Mine just has a high/low switch with a couple of different resistors, low covers to 50-60dB and high above that. They are connected to the amps output, a driver board would be more convenient but I’d have to buy it and install:rolleyes:

Don’t recall for sure believe they are 6 volt, but you can measure across the connectors to determine for sure….someone else probably knows for certain :naughty:

edit: On second thought, I’ve got spares somewhere, I’ll see if I can find them tomorrow :thumbsup:

I do believe your right as I came across a post on another forum saying they are 6v and either #46 or #47.In either case there are led replacements for either one now which I plan to replace them with .Since the power supply I'm going to use for the driver board is 12v I will be getting a down conver from 12v to 5 volts which should work fine.

I have the meters already as posted above.Theyre 4 and 5/8 w by 4 and 1/2 tall which will be easy to see from my listening position even with my poor eyesight.I ordered a board today along with a enclosure from Amazon .The board won be here untill the 27th at the latest but the case will be here friday.i also ordered some rca panel jacks .Still have to get a 12 Volt power supply to mount inside as I don't want to use a laptop one . I will be posting a separate thread on it once I get everything all together.
