Hello folks! :wave:

I have a problem: is it possible to connect a subwoofer to my MA6600? If it's possible, how? :dunno: :wtf:

I looked at the 6600's manual & found nothing :pistols: :uzi:

Could you please help me? :D :huge:

Thanks to anyone who will answer this :thmbsp:

Your MA6600 has two pre output jacks on the rear. #1 is used to jump to the internal amp. #2 to a second amp like a powered sub.

Thanks Bill :D

Another question: :ntwrthy:
Right now I have MA6600 + MCD301 + Thiel CS1.6 :banana::banana::banana:

To upgrade it, should I add a sub or rather get a MCD500 instead of the MCD301? :saywhat:

Thanks again :thmbsp:

PS What about changing the 6600's jumpers with two interconnects, as someone said in some other thread???

Joe, if I were you I would move with caution. Your current system is very good. You may end up spending more money with worse sound.

1) adding a sub can be complicated. It is hard to control low bass frequencies and adding a sub to full range speakers just adds further to the problem. Based on the size of your listening room you may overload the room with low bass frequencies which might result in loss of clarity in mid-bass, upper-bass, and lower mid-range frequencies. I recommend you do some reading, i.e., current issue TAS, on the subject and consult your speaker manufacturer.

2) adding different jumpers will not improve sound quality at all.

3) I don't see any value in changing out the MCD301 with a MCD500 unless you want to to use the DACs in the MCD500.

I would not add a sub.. I don't need one my self as i have four 3 way speakers. if you have some large 15's couple them up in a nice enclosure and paier them up with a set of mids and tweets.. Subs are good for a system that needs them. from what I read you don't need a sub.

Thanks Bill :D

Obviously, you feel that your current system is lacking in bass reproduction. I think your time and money would be best spent on replacing your CS1.6 speakers with something that will provide the low frequency output you're looking for. Find and listen to some Paradigm Reference Studio 100 V4. They're in the same price range as your Thiels and can pump out bass down to 28Hz. They'd be a good starting point in your search.
