If the call isn't from my family, I never pick up. I also use external drives to back my 'puter up. You can get 1tb drives cheap these days.

+1 one that, I never pick up the phone anymore,all the calls go through my answer machine after three rings and then if I know who it is, I'll pick up, I just had to many telemarketers calls.
I cloned my harddrive for many years now and it's saved me quite a few times, plus all my data is saved daily.

NEVER trust a phone call from a agency like your bank or Visa, if in doubt, hang up and look the number up in the phone book or 411 directory and call them back.

In spite of the fact of SO many amazingly cheap and easy options.

I think I've made more $$ after an "oh crap" moment than anything else in my 20+ year carreer in IT.

I'm kind of "old school" about my data. Mine exists in no less than 3 different "physical" places here and 2 different "cloud" locations.

I got "bit" by that dog many years ago. He won't bite me ever again.

Amazing! I never leave it more than 3 days.

First rule of computing-back it up or lose it.
