i just bought a Harmon Kardon HK3480 receiver:
120wpc 20-20k <.07%
High Instantaneous Current Capability +/-45 amps
i took the cover off to see what's inside and found (2) caps made by Koshin rated at 63v 15000uF. i also have an AVR7200 that has two HUGE caps (can't read capacity). it's rated at 100wpc..granted there's 7 channels but i was just disappointed when i saw those tiny caps in the HK3480.
Harmon Kardon has always been known to have amps with huge balls, my 7200 is a good example. how does Current Capability, caps, and power supply determine power output? how does the HK3480 stack up VS other two channel receivers? it puts out 120wps @8ohms but only 150wpc @ 4ohms...if HK receivers have huge balls why are they weak in a 4ohm load? the power should double...right?
