+1. Go to your local Lowe's (or whatever home impovement store you have in the UK) and get a 50 foot spool of lamp cable. They may even have speaker cable for similar price. I'd go for either 16 or 14 gauge.Lamp cord will do just fine for now...
I take it the Rega turntable comes with the proper cables to hook it up to your receiver?

But I have paid £25 for someone to do me banana jack ends and spring clip to get I assume a better response from the speakers?
Can anyone suggest any little tweaks to improve anything about the setup without breaking the bank?

The only thing Banana plugs and spring clips bring to the table is some bling. They don't sound better than bare wire.
Unless you are a total clutz with hand tools you can easily add Banana plugs or pins to speaker cables. Most don't need soldering. The only tools needed for them are wire strippers (a razor blade works) and a small jewelers screwdriver.
FWIW: I prefer and use locking Banana and RCA plugs. They don't work any better. They just make me feel better.

Enjoy the ride M8och! Always nice to get new members from younger generations. I think you made some very good choices in your starter system.
I know feel like a clown that I’m paying for something which is really not needed but at least supports local hifi store. Who I may need in the future. One thing I found funny is that my turntable plays 33/45 but I’m yet to find any of my albums needing a 45 speed. Is it because 7” only require 45 as I have non in my collection.
7" records are played at 45 rpm. Your LPs will all play at 33 rpm.

Except for a few specialty pressed records. I know my copy of "Wasting Light" by the Foo Fighters is on two 12" LP's that play at 4 RPM. The vast majority will play at 33 however.
Seems like most 45 rpm records are the singles with a big hole in the middle, and 7" in diameter. I have a few 'audiophile' recordings of 12" LP size recorded for 45 rpm playback.
When I was a kid, we had some smaller records of 7" that were played back at 78 rpm, which speed usually is associated with 10" and 12" records. I've heard of 16-2/3 rpm records, but have never seen one.

If you still have the gear set up as in the picture you posted, I see a couple of issues. The Rega turntable has no suspension so it's more prone to vibration than something like a Linn Sondek would be. That's ok, but I wouldn't put the speakers on the same surface as the turntable. You could put the speakers on stands or put the turntable on a separate shelf, or you could isolate the speakers with something like these:

Also, it looks like your wooden floor isn't doing you any favours in terms of the room's acoustics. I would put down a very large rug at the least.
